Honesty

A relatively honest person will be honest enough to admit they are dishonest while the more dishonest a person a person is the more likely they are to lie and say he is honest. Therefor never trust someone who says they are honest.

Friendship

Friendship is simply having something in common. The more you have in common the closer the friendship. This is why in general the longer the friendship the closer the friendship, because the longer the friendship the more experiences you have in common. This also explains why in general those of the same sex are better friends because those of the same sex generally share more in common.

Foolishness

A fool keeps repeating the same mistake and expects a different outcome.
A wiser fool learns from his mistakes.
A still wiser fool learns from the mistakes of others.
A wise man learns from basic principles.

The statement that we must learn from the mistakes of the past or we are bound to repeat them only applies to fools. If we are wise we can learn from principles without making or watch other make mistakes and we need not dwell in the past.

Christianity

  1. While other brands my say their god is loving only Christianity can prove it. Where's the proof you ask? The proof is in the Passion.
  2. “The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and left untried.”― G.K. Chesterton (1/2/12)
  3. C.S. Lewis said "the problem with Christianity is Christians." I disagree. I believe that the apparent problem with Christianity is non-Christians who call themselves "Christians." Calling yourself a Christian does not make you a Christian any more than calling yourself honest makes you honest. ( 3/9/10)

Peace

  1. "Peace stems from forgiveness." Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of a Course in Miracles by Marianne Williamson page 89 (2/19/11)
  2. “The Christmas message is not that peace will come automatically, because Christ is born in Bethlehem; that birth in Bethlehem was the prelude to His birth in our hearts by grace and faith and love. Peace belongs only to those who will to have it. If there is no peace in the world today, it is not because Christ did not come; it is because we did not let Him in.” Archbishop Fulton Sheen (Simple Truths) (12/28/12)

Guilt

The main things blocking love and separating us from God, others and our essential self are guilt and shame.
(7/17/11) People love guilt because they feel if they suffer enough guilt, they’ll make up for what they’ve done. - Sister Wendy Beckett

Time

God exists in eternity. The only point where eternity meets time is in the present. The present is the only time there is. ~ Marianne Wiliamson

Knowledge of Good and Evil

I have often wondered why eating fruit that gave knowledge of good and evil was a bad thing. Isn't knowledge of good and evil a good thing? Don't we expect parents to teach their children the difference between wright and wrong? I think that the knowledge of good and evil that occurred after eating the fruit caused Adam and Eve to be judgmental. That is why they covered themselves, because they did not want to be judged.

2/17/11: It also explains why they where kicked out of the garden of eden, because they would have found fauit even with Paradise.

Consciousness

Suppose I came to you with an offer you to invest in a time travel machine. You ask how my time machine works and I unroll a diagram of a billion gears that are intricately connected. I tell you that all you need to do is set the dial to the date you want and turn the crank and you can travel to any point in time you wish. You then asked me how a bunch of spinning gears can cause time travel and I tell you it is not the spinning gears themselves but the interaction and pattern of a billion gears. Would you invest in my machine? This is the reason I do not buy the materialistic explanation for consciousness.

Belief

  1. It is not enough to believe God exist, we must believe that God loves us and when we do we will love God.
  2. “If you don't behave as you believe, you will end by believing as you behave.”
    ― Fulton J. Sheen (2/29/12)
