Faith

  1. "In faith there is enough light for those who want to believe and enough shadows to blind those who don't.” - Blaise Pascal (5/9/13)
  2. All knowledge is ultimately based on faith. The scientist bases his knowledge on observation, however before he can base his knowledge on observation he must have faith that his observations are real. He can not observe that his observations are real; that would be circular reasoning. The mathematician bases her knowledge on logic, however before she can base her knowledge on logic she must have faith that logic is true. She can not prove logic is true using logic; that would be circular reasoning. (6/4/13)

Complaining

Religious Schools

"Students in religious schools enjoy a significant academic advantage over their
counterparts in traditional public schools and charter schools" - CAPE Outlook (5/2/13)

Bible Interpretation

  1. "The Bible is its own interpreter." - Harold Camping (The President of Family Radio who predicted the Rapture would take place on May 21, 201, and than that the end of the world would take place on October 21, 2011.) (5/2/13)
    1. My interpretation of Mr. Camping's statement is "Me interpreting the Bible by myself is the Bible interpreting itself" (5/2/13)
    2. The strange thing is that all the people who say "The Bible is its own interpreter" seem to come up with different interpretations. (5/2/13)
    3. For example R. C. Sproul and Joel Osteen have just about as far apart interpretations of the Bible as you can get but the both say "The Bible is its own interpreter." (5/2/13)
    4. You can not argue with these types of people about what the Bible says because after all your interpretation is just your interpretation but their interpretation is the Bible interpreting itself. (5/2/13)
