Dementia
This study demonstrate for the first time that a high systolic blood pressure measured by a device worn for 24 hours is a predictor of cognitive decline in older adults but the blood pressure taken in the doctor’s office was not.http://circ.ahajournals.org/content/124/21/2312.abstract
"The quantitative meta-analysis showed thatantihypertensive medication use could decrease risk of the development of VD[vascular dementia, a type of dementia caused by damage to the blood vessels inthe brain] and any [total] dementia, but could not decrease that of AD[Alzheimer's disease], cognitive decline and cognitive impairment."
